This image is from the series and very successful exhibition entitled, “After Basquiat: Fragmented imagery | Mischievous Thoughts. (2019)  It is a series that is about “daily noise….observations…unlinked observations, thoughts – humorous and intense.”  They are meant to encourage the viewer to slow down. observe. see. EXPERIENCE

The image celebrates the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago with its bright crimson color – an endangered species. Being endangered never stops the beautiful bird from flying out and back every day to its home at the Caroni Swamp in Trinidad. “Forged from the love of liberty…” like our anthem says, the bird is reminiscent of this nation. I imagine the “daily conversations” of the birds as they fly home much like the humor of Trinidadians.
